Hot Rolled Pickled and Oiled
Reliance Sheet & Strip Company supplies Hot Rolled Pickled and Oiled (HRPO) products made to ASTM-A1011 (Commercial Steel-Type B) standards. These sheets are specially processed to offer a cleaner, more uniform surface and superior resistance to rust compared to standard hot rolled steel.
What Is Hot Rolled Pickled and Oiled Steel?
After the hot rolling process, the steel is passed through an acid pickling bath, which thoroughly removes mill scale, rust, and oxide impurities. This cleaning step produces a smooth and uniform finish. The steel is then immediately coated with a thin layer of protective oil to inhibit further rust formation, providing a significant upgrade in corrosion protection compared to untreated hot rolled steel.
