(Commercial Steel-Type B) specifications. Galvannealed steel begins its life as galvanized, with coils passing through a molten zinc bath. The key difference is the subsequent annealing step: as the coils exit the bath, they are heated in a furnace to fully alloy the zinc and iron, creating a dull gray surface with no spangle.

What Is Galvannealed Unique?

Galvannealed steel’s zinc-iron alloy coating results in a matte finish that’s highly suitable for painted applications after proper preparation. The coating is harder than standard galvanized, offering improved paint adhesion and long-term resistance to corrosion. While it lacks the ductility of regular galvanized steel and may experience powdering under severe forming, it resists flaking and delivers an exceptionally reliable surface for welding, painting, and joining.
